International Visual Art Exhibition

Artes Mundi opened March 11 in Cardiff, Wales. Held biennially at the National Museum Cardiff, the contemporary art show features international artists whose work stimulates “thinking about the human condition and humanity.” The free exhibit runs through June 6, 2010.

Nearly 500 artists, representing more than 80 countries, were nominated for Artes Mundi 4. Among the short-listed artists are Yael Bartana (Israel), Fernando Bryce (Peru), Ergin Çavuşoğlu (Bulgaria), Olga Chernysheva (Russia), Chen Chieh-jen (Taiwan), Gulnara Kasmalieva and Muratbek Djumaliev (Kyrgyzstan), and Adrian Paci (Albania). The winner of the £40,000 Artes Mundi Prize will be announced May 19, 2010.
